Rained down upon the cities fire and brimstone

Compromise goes back to the Roman Empire where they incorporated Pagan practices into 'Christian" belief. Thus begins the compromise.  They set up the Christian Universal Church as they saw it. This is not the way Jesus set it up. The statues, the church buildings were already going to be built in honor of the Pagan Gods, it just changed to use the 'saints'.  Church of Saint this and saint that, of the Holy this the holy that, the Building structure was not what Jesus talked about, the church was each one of us not a building, then came the rules, books, of man making denomination or organized religion. This is far from what Jesus instructed his disciples to go and do. Then year by year, with society and mans rules came the compromise of God's Rules. Roman and pagan beliefs  about are easter, christmas... The church incorporated their calender to make the conversion of pagans more acceptable to them. 25th of dec is not the exact date of jesus` birth, but still this is compromise. My question is with the Compromise the signs, the healings, or the last time a Christian drank a deadly thing, or the new tongues, with the Compromise goes the signs?

15 And he said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."
19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
20

And they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that attended it. Amen.  [Mark 16]

"Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Mat. 28:16-20. "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:..."

What the Bible saysThe biblical basis for understanding Gods intention for marriage is found in Genesis 2. The human race began with the creation of a heterosexual coupleAdam and Eve. The creation of Adam and Eve (male and female) was the foundation of human civilization and their union the first marriage. Genesis 2:24 states: This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh. Marriage is an institution of God designed as a lifelong covenant relationship between a man and woman (Matt. 19:1-6).

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where [are] the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Genesis19:5

, is interpreted as a militant solicitation for homosexual sex. Second, they argue that homosexuality is the "strange flesh" mentioned in the following passage,

Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Jude1:7

What the Bible saysThe New Testament also clearly identifies homosexuality as immorality. Jesus statement, Dont assume that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill (Matt. 5:17), indicated His agreement with all moral laws of the Mosaic Law including the laws prohibiting homosexuality. His statements on marriage and divorce in Matthew 5:31-32; 19:1-9 revealed His agreement with the definition of marriage as a lawful bond between a man and woman for life.

The Apostle Paul confronted a secular culture where homosexuality was accepted and endorsed by influential writers and leaders. In contrast to the acceptance of homosexuality by many in the first century A.D., Paul referred to the practice as sexual impurity, unnatural, shameless acts, and perversion (Rom. 1:24-27). Paul included homosexuals among those who will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9-10). Homosexuality is also included in a list of sins in 1 Timothy 1:10.

Liberal scholars have attempted at least three forms of attacks upon the biblical condemnation of homosexuality. Some have openly taken issue with the veracity of Scripture and treat the modern acceptance of homosexuality as new truth superior to scriptural revelation. Others have attempted to use a distorted definition of love to justify homosexual relationships. Still others assert that some people are born with homosexual tendencies and that God is therefore responsible and approving of homosexuality.

People are born with a sin nature that manifests itself in many expressions of rebellion against God. God is not to be blamed for our sinful choices. He sent His Son to deliver us from the penalty and the practice of sinincluding homosexuality.

The beginning of the END?

Same-sex marriage, also referred to as gay marriage, is a marriage between two persons of the same sex. Currently the federal government does not recognize same-sex marriage, under the Defense of Marriage Act, but same-sex marriage is currently recognized on the state level by two states, California and Massachusetts. The issue is a divisive political issue in the United States and elsewhere. The social movement to obtain the rights and responsibilities of marriages in the United States for same-sex couples began in the early 1970s

Sodom and Gomorrah, according to the Old Testament (Genesis 18, 19), were two ancient cities in Palestine, near the Dead Sea. The Bible almost invariably speaks of them together. With Admah, Zeboiim, and Zoar, Sodom and Gomorrah formed the five "cities of the plain", all but the last-named of which are said to have been destroyed by brimstone and fire, perhaps accompanied by an earthquake, because of the indecency and perverse sexual practices of their inhabitants. Later they became prototypes of evil places and there are several tales in the aggadic tradition of the horrible things that occurred there.

When God made has plans known to Abraham about the destruction of Sodom, Abraham was worried about the righteous people in city. God then promised that he would save the city if He found ten righteous people there. He sent two angels to Sodom, and they encountered Lot at the gates of the city. Lot took the two angels to his house and offered them food and place to sleep. Later that night, the men of the city surrounded his house and ordered that he delivered to them the two men he had taken in. When they tried to force their way in, the angels struck them with blindness. They then spoke to Lot of the impending destruction of the city and told him to leave with his wife and two daughters. He and his family were warned not to look behind when they left to city, but Lot's wife did so and was instantly transformed in a salt pillar.

God Destroyed Sodom Because of Fornication and Homosexuality

However, miss Fontaine needs to look at the entire Word of God, not just Genesis.  The Bible plainly states in the New Testament, in Jude 1:7...

"Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange (Greek: different, other) flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

I don't see any mention of "hospitality" miss Fontaine, but I do see "fornication" and "going after strange flesh."  The term "going after strange flesh" is explained to us in Proverbs 7:5 and Romans 1:26-27...

"That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words."

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."

"Going after strange flesh" in the Bible is not necessarily homosexuality, as we are warned about the "strange" adulterous woman in Proverb 5:20; 7:5; but, the context of Jude 1:7 clearly implies homosexuality.  "Going after strange flesh" means going after flesh "different" than what is rightfully ours to claim (our spouse's body -1st Corinthians 7:4).  Notice that Jude mentions both "fornication" and "going after strange flesh."  Obviously, Sodom's sins were more than fornication, and certainly more than a "lack of hospitality."  The "strange" flesh simply refers to that which is forbidden by God for us to have, it is flesh outside the bounds of God's laws; hence, the term "sexual deviance" (to deviate from what is acceptable to God).

THE RUINS FOUND  We should show our Children it is important

The ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah have been discovered southeast of the Dead Sea. The modern names are Bab edh-Dhra, thought to be Sodom, and Numeira, thought to be Gomorrah. Both places were destroyed at the same time by an enormous conflagration. The destruction debris was about three feet thick. What brought about this awful calamity? Startling discoveries in the cemetery at Bab edh-Dhra revealed the cause. Archaeologists found that buildings used to bury the dead were burned by a fire that started on the roof.

Sulfer type hail stones found all throughout the find made from nearly 100% sulferSulfer was found throughout the site in what looked to be hail type balls they were 95.7% Sulfur caused by extreme heat

What would cause every structure in the cemetery to be destroyed in this way? The answer to the mystery is found in the Bible Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrahfrom the Lord out of the heavens (Genesis 19:24). The only conceivable explanation for this unique discovery in the annals of archaeology is that burning debris fell on the buildings from the air. But how could such a thing happen?

There is ample evidence of subterranean deposits of a petroleum-based substance called bitumen, similar to asphalt, in the region south of the Dead Sea. Such material normally contains a high percentage of sulfur. It has been postulated by geologist Frederick Clapp that pressure from an earthquake could have caused the bitumen deposits to be forced out of the earth through a fault line. As it gushed out of the earth it could have been ignited by a spark or surface fire. It would then fall to earth as a burning, fiery mass.

It was only after Clapp formulated this theory that Sodom and Gomorrah were found. It turns out that the sites are located exactly on a fault line along the eastern side of a plain south of the Dead Sea, so Clapp's theory is entirely plausible. There is some evidence for this scenario from the Bible itself. Abraham viewed the destruction from a vantage point west of the Dead Sea. The Bible records what Abraham saw: He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace (Genesis 19:28). Dense smoke suggests smoke from a petroleum-based fire. Smoke rising like smoke from a furnace indicates a forced draft, such as would be expected from subterranean deposits being forced out of the ground under pressure.

The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah became an example in the Bible of how God judges sin Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before Me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen (Ezekiel 16:49-50).
